Promoting your event

This is the fun part…tell people your event is happening! Use every channel of communication available to let people know about your event. Think about the type of event you are planning, who is likely to attend and put up posters and flyers anywhere you might think they see them, for example, beauticians, hairdressers, shops, leisure centres, libraries, community centres and local businesses.

Tell People

Invite all your friends, family and work colleagues – it is a great chance to catch up and support the MIB appeal.

Local Media

Call your local paper, radio, magazines, or send a press release. If you are sending a press release, assume the reader knows nothing about the event so give as much detail as possible – think Who, What, When, Where, Why. If in doubt, the MIB team is here to help. We have an experienced Communications Department that will offer advice to anyone wanting media assistance. Please call us on 028 2562 2136.

Social Networking – Spread the word!

The more people you invite the more money you will raise for children and young people living with Domestic Violence. Email, text or post the details of your fundraising event online to all your friends, family and contacts.

You could create an event on Facebook and invite your contacts to attend. Or what about Twitter? Tweet about your fundraiser and encourage followers to spread the word.
